Canterbury Tales

Well, we've finally downloaded from the camera again, so to start with, here's some pictures of the historic town of Canterbury in Kent, home of Canterbury Cathedral. We decided to visit one day back in March when the weather was still a bit chilly. That explains why we're all rugged up - it's a lot warmer now, honest.

It took about 90 minutes to drive from our place (inclusive of gross navigational error by driver not obeying GPS technology). That's a bit of an improvement on several weeks that it used to take the pilgrims from London back in the 1200's.

This is just outside the city walls (where it's cheaper to park your car), and that's the West Gate gatehouse next to the bridge at the back there

Flowers start to pop up in March

More of us outside the city walls

Shops = happy girls

Old pub by canal (= happy boy, if he was allowed to go in)

This is Canterbury Cathedral - one of the main attractions of Canterbury, funnily enough

Inside the cathedral - it seems as if you're OK to take pics inside Canterbury Cathedral, which is comforting, but we still didn't use the flash just in case the big man upstairs was watching

More from inside the cathedral

The Shrine to St Thomas Becket, who was archbishop of Canterbury, but ended up getting offside with King Henry II, and got murdered by the kings men inside the cathedral in 1170 - pretty spooky stuff

The girls tried to join the choir

Mind your head - if you're an adult at least.
