Newlands Corner

This week's adventure takes place in a lovely spot called Newland's Corner - in the Surrey Hills, near Guildford. We're not sure where the "corner" is... it's more of a bend in the road really. Anyway, the carpark here is always full of cars, bikes and people wandering around in hiking boots, so curiosity got the better of us and we had to take a look.

We took the picnic blanket and a few snacks along and had a very nice walk through the countryside on what was quite a nice afternoon weather-wise.
(We told you the weather's been good!)

Anyway, to sum the place up we'd have to say it's very scenic... as our pictures will hopefully show.

As you can see, it's very scenic.

More scenery... Lucy took this one... she has a unique photography style!

Not as much scenery in this one... just a nutter

Slackers

Yes, we know we've been slack in our blog updating lately, but the weather was so wintry and we couldn't take any photos, then it turned really lovely (17 degrees one day) and we were too busy enjoying it. There's always an excuse.

Anyway, we've finally got the chance to post a few pick pics of what's been happening lately... hope you enjoy....

Caiti's first day at pre-school (or nursery as it's called here). It was persisting down with rain that day, hence the full-body suit.
Lucy was chucking a sickie that day (she's still an Aussie!!) which explains why she's still in her PJ's.

Our old mate Jen took a break from her rugby commitments in Ireland (she's a coach's assistant, or some such thing) and popped over to London to catchup for a few days . It was great to see a friendly face and the girl's took the opportunity to spend an afternoon shopping in Windsor - which probably explains the big smiles.

Caiti loves Windsor.... here she is soaking up the royal ambience.

The weather got so nice a couple of weeks ago, we met up with a few friends from Lucy's school at Keezee's favourite pub, The Anchor. It was a beautiful day, although we only have the one photo to prove the sun does come out in winter.

Lucy has started karate lessons. She's really enjoying it so far, but it's a tough sport and much physical strength and mental discipline is required. Here we show her in one of the tougher tests of standing outside barefoot in her "gi" to pose for a photo, despite it being minus 4 degrees (honest - we have a thermometer to prove it).

Told you it was cold.

A Day at the Races

We haven't had too many photo opportunities lately, what with visitors and post Christmas sales being on (some good bargains!), and as a result the blog has been suffering. So we thought we might post some pics from before Christmas when we went to Bockett's farm, at nearby Bookham, for a spot of pig racing.

We were actually there to check it out as a potential location for Lucy's birthday party - it's great fun, but a little too cold in December - but when we found out the pig races were on, we headed for the course.

This one was taken just to show where we are, but also now explains how Caitlin ended up with mud all over.

Excited punters

The field

And they're off.....

And the winner was..... we forgot, but we didn't have any money on it.

So that was the pig racing...... but believe it or not, there's more than just pig racing at Bockett's Farm. We enjoyed feeding sheep, milking a goat (don't ask), seeing all sorts of farm animals, working our way through the maze and playing on the all the equipment. When I say "we" I mean all of us.... even Mum went down the slide!

How to milk a (pretend) cow.

How not to milk to a (real) goat.
(The cameraman got in trouble for not supervising the children shortly after taking this shot)

Lucy seems to make friends wherever she goes.

The big bouncy thing was voted second best fun thing of the day.

The slide won the first best fun thing award.

Pretending to be Pop at the farm.... Pop's tractor is bigger though.

There's a sign saying "Please do not feed the animals"..... so here's another example of the camera-person's lack of adult supervision.
